Spring (March, April, May). Warm , dry and sunny. A time when the countryside is at its most attractive with abundant wildflowers, almond and orange blossom. Visit in March if you want a quiet holiday with few visitors. By the end of April and beginning of May the waters are warming for your first swim of the year. See the spring birds, including flamingoes, bee-eaters and hoopoes. Perfect climate for any outdoor activities. Early season fruits to enjoy.

Summer (June, July, August, September). Long hot, dry and sunny days, tempered by gentle sea breazes. Warmest waters in Portugal. Perfect time for the beach or pool, relaxing in the shade and dining outside. Lots of delicious seasonal fruits, vegetables and of course, seafood. Open-air entertainment and fiestas in the local towns and villages.

Autumn (October, November). Warm and still sunny, but some thunder showers arriving. Great for visiting historic towns - without the heat of the summer and less busy. Great temperatures for golf and horseriding.

Winter (December, January, February). Cooler and more rain - but still many hours of sunshine and blue skies to enjoy the outdoor life. The quietest time of the year with fewest visitors. A perfect escape from the long British winter.
